A few words from our friends…

Thank you again for the opportunity to help out. I would be interested in doing it again, just for my own soul. It does a body good.

I just wanted to let you all know how much fun we had at the packing event!  It was great to represent Wal-mart and have associates who were engaged with doing something in the community.  We shared our experience at store meetings with our associates.

“The TinCaps have always enjoyed working with Kids Against Hunger-Greenwood. We’ve been fortunate to be a part of a couple of different “Strike Out Hunger” packaging events and couldn’t be more impressed with the mission, people and vision for KAH. It is something that everyone can be a part of and we received nothing but great feedback from our fans that participated in their events!”

“On a purely objective level, it’s fairly easy to be impressed with just the facts: KAH’s nutritional formula, cost-effectiveness, distribution network, and the amazing impact the meals have in literally saving lives and restoring health.

What has impressed me beyond any expectation, however, is the equally amazing impact on children and families who participate together in packing events. There is a palpable transformative energy that is very different than other “service projects” I have experienced. There are kids in my church whose worldview has been forever changed by their participation, and for whom the phrase “kids against hunger” is now descriptive of their very being.”

“I am really pleased to be part of the supply chain for Kids Against Hunger. We try to provide several pallets of the meals on every container we ship to developing countries.

Recently, I received a brief article back from one of the recipients of a food distribution in La Paz, Honduras. Not only were they thrilled to receive the food, but they sent pictures of how they had enhanced the meal with some eggs and a small meat patty.

What an impact Kids Against Hunger is having worldwide in the effort to prevent starvation. Blessings to you and thanks to the many volunteers who’s effort make it all possible.”

We are so appreciative of the Kids against Hunger meals provided by the Greenwood chapter! Recently one of the most severe tornados to hit Indiana left thousands homeless and needy. Midwest food Bank with the help of Kids Against Hunger was able to respond quickly to meet the needs of victims in this area just 18 hours after the tornado struck. Each month many meals are provided by Midwest as we provide food, disaster relief and hope to over 60,000 individuals monthly in 43 Indiana counties through 230 faith based and social service agencies. Without the help of partners like Greenwood Kids Against Hunger this kind of response would not have been possible.

Here are a few testimonials from clients of the Inter Church Food Pantry of Johnson County

I asked a mother if her children liked Kid Against Hunger meals.  She said that it was their favorite meal and she actually did not accept that at all. She had put off making some for her family, but one day it was really all she had left to fix for dinner. So she cooked up the packet added some orange juice, soy sauce, and canned chicken then baked it.  That dinner is now her family's favorite meal and they ask for it all the time now.

A lady went to her Church (Grace UMC) and saw the children packing the Kids Against Hunger boxes so she decided that the next time she came into IFPJC that she would try it. The Chicken and Rice is her favorite and she even bakes it with crushed chips and a little bit of cheese on top.

"The Xtreme girls, parents and coaches had a great time and can't wait to do it again! Thanks for making it a great experience!"

Folks,

Good news.  We've just received word this afternoon that our KAH shipment of 20,000 meals has cleared customs in Port-au-Prince, was unloaded in the port, and is already in the hands of the three ministries to which we were sending it.  In the case of the Theophile School and Grace Orphanage, it arrived in the nick of time.  They had just run out of both food and money on their campus again (that's a recurring theme just about everywhere in Haiti...!), and they weren't certain how they were going to feed their 150+ children during June.  Prayers were answered.  God is good.

Thank you!

Grace and peace,
AL & KAREN RIDER
